Kalkan is a beautiful unspoilt Mediterranean-style village set along Turkey’s Lycian coast. The area includes many historical sites and many fine beaches .
Also called “Turkish Amalfi” by some of our guests, Kalkan is an old fishing town famous for its white-washed houses descending to the sea and its brightly coloured bougainvilleas.
Because of its great charm, Kalkan has a growing number of perennial visitors who say the town is the only holiday destination they would choose to visit repeatedly. There is simply no other town quite like Kalkan along Turkey's coast where the sun shines for 300 days a year and still you can enjoy the absence of mass tourism.
There are plenty of historic sites to visit (Xantos, Letoon, Pinara, Patara, Kekova, Demre etc.) in the local area so why not hire a car to make the most of your holiday. Kalkan has fabulous beaches including Patara Beach and the idyllic Kaputas Beach and also its own blue-flag beach if you do not wish to stray too far. Water sports, gullet trips to nearby islands, a visit to Meis (Castellorizo) or to local specialty shops are some of the other attractions of the town.
Kalkan is said to have the highest number of restaurants and bars per inhabitant or square meter. You will surely enjoy numerous roof-top terrace and marina restaurants and bars which offer a wonderful view of the town, the sparkling sea and the stars as well as best examples of world-renowned Turkish Cuisine.
